Life can be like a rollercoaster, at times leaving us feeling trapped and unsure how to break free from the negative cycle. Maybe you can't even put your finger on the exact moment that caused it, and you're left feeling like you're just going through the motions.
You might not even think that "trauma" is the correct word to describe what you're going through, but you know that something is holding you back from living your best life. It can be so frustrating when those negative feelings keep creeping back up and impacting your daily life and relationships.
The thing is, everyone's experience with trauma is unique. It doesn't have to be a big, life-altering event to affect us. It's normal to feel like you're stuck in the past or that you'll never be the same again. But remember, healing doesn't mean you have to relive every painful moment. It's a journey, and you'll get there in your own time.

Grief is a typical response to emotional loss, regardless of the nature of the loss. While some losses, such as the passing of a loved one or the end of a marriage, are more poignant, other life events like retirement, relocation, loss of a beloved pet, financial or health struggles, marriage, graduation, overcoming addiction, and unfulfilled aspirations, can also elicit a profound sense of grief. It's essential to recognize that the grieving process is natural, and each individual's journey is unique.

Depression, also known as major depressive disorder, is a prevalent and severe medical condition that adversely impacts your emotional state, cognitive processes, and behavior. However, effective treatments are available. Symptoms of depression can manifest as persistent feelings of sadness and a decreased interest in activities that were once pleasurable. This condition can lead to a range of emotional and physical complications, thereby impairing your ability to function at work and in personal life.
Depression symptoms can vary from mild to severe and can include:
Feeling sad or having a depressed mood
Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
Changes in appetite — weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting
Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
Loss of energy or increased fatigue
Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., inability to sit still, pacing, handwringing) or slowed movements or speech (these actions must be severe enough to be observable by others)
Feeling worthless or guilty
Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions
Thoughts of death or suicide

Working with teenagers requires an adept combination of warmth, encouragement, and compassion. It's easy to generalize teens as being moody or problematic. However, the truth is they face a myriad of challenges, including societal pressure to fit in, academic success, and the need to maintain a perfect appearance on social media. These stressors can be overwhelming for anyone, even the most popular or confident of individuals. Moreover, mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or other severe conditions can compound these difficulties and make life feel like an uphill battle. But don't worry, you're not alone, and I'm here to help you feel heard, understood, and supported. My role is to provide you with a safe haven, where I offer a non-judgmental space, and we work together to tackle whatever is weighing on you. I'll equip you with techniques and skills that are tried, tested, and ninja-approved!
